Frequently Asked Questions

-Transportation to the hill? Usually 60% of the club is from Calgary and the other 40% from the Bow Valley. Phone lists are distributed at the start of the year so parents can organize car pools.

-Ski passes? The ski hills do not give the club discounts. www.skircr.com has all the pass info you need. Check out family rates and look into the RCR SuperPass or the Big 3 Pass if you frequent other hills.

-Ski Gear: Fresh Sports knows the club well and can give you suggestions about what skis, boots and bindings you need. In general, a twin-tip ski that has a wide waist is great for what we do. Comfortable boots with a medium flex also work well for us. The coaches aren't usually up to date on what brands are making what junior skis, so you are best to talk to the staff at Fresh. Tell them you are with RMF to get a discount. Located at, 108-10th Street NW

-Coach to student ratio for both Sunday programs will not exceed 1:7 and Saturdays will not exceed 1:8.

-On road-trips and at contests students are responsible for their lodging, food and lift tickets. All coaches' costs are covered.

-Extra costs: All students must sign up with the Canadian Freestyle Ski Assoc. on their own. The cost is $30 and the process is outlined at the bottom of this page.

-Times and meeting area: While skiing Lake Louise,

Seniors meet at 9am Saturdays, upstairs in the Whiskyjack Lodge, stop for lunch around noon and ski until 3-3:30.

Juniors meet at 9am Sundays, upstairs in the Whiskyjack Lodge, stop for lunch around noon and ski until 3-3:30.

Young Guns meet at 9:15am Sundays, upstairs in the Whiskyjack Lodge, stop for lunch around noon and ski until 3-3:30.

Meeting times and places while away from Louise will be discussed later.

-Insurance: RMF is insured by the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association. All students must sign-up with CFSA on-line before they can ski with the club or do dryland training. Instructions for signing up are below. The cost is $30 for the "Club Level Athelete *Non Competitor" which is what you need for RMF even if you are doing the Junior Big Mountain Contests this season.
